The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows
The Church of Addolorata is located at the end of Via Cavour, in the heart of Maratea's Historic Center, almost at the foot of the staircase that leads to the upper part of the town and to the Mother Church.
In front of the church, built in 1620, stands the Obelisk of the Addolorata, erected at the behest of citizen Gerardo Laurelli in 1788.
In 1692, the Congregation of the Addolorata was elevated, and to this day it includes a prior and members, providing for the solemn celebration of the feast on the third Sunday of September.

Works of art in the Church
The interior of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, refurbished in the 18th century in baroque style, features three well-carved marble altars dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Blaise, and St. Francis of Paola.
On the first altar there is a sculpture of the Madonna from the eighteenth century, and on the second there is a beautiful painting of the Martyrdom of St. Blaise, by an unknown artist.
