"Fernando Sisinni and the Woodworm of Utopia"
Author: Biagio Trotta
Year of publication: 2011

The inspiring vision for the future by Fernando Sisinni
The book, written by Professor Biagio Trotta, explores the thought and legacy of Fernando Sisinni, a prominent figure in Lucanian politics and mayor of Maratea during the 1970s and 1980s. Published on the 25th anniversary of Sisinni's passing, the work represents a milestone in the recovery and systematization of the valuable documentary and project heritage left by the Maratean politician.
The book offers a clear and uncelebratory account of the political and administrative activities of Fernando Sisinni during his tenure as mayor from December 10, 1975, to June 15, 1986. The author reconstructs in chronological order the main projects and programs developed by the administrative majority led by Sisinni, with particular attention to the "Maratea Project." This plan claimed the autonomy of the Municipality in defining its own growth path, opposing national and regional bureaucratic centralism, and asserted the principle that Maratea should be administered by its own citizens, deeply connected to the territory and its reality.
