BASILICATA VALENTINA PETROSINO

Of the sea and other stories ...

“Valentina, Basilicata is the most beautiful place in the world!” Rocco, the manager of my favourite bookshop, always tells me.
Rocco was born there and has a deep, passionate love for his homeland.
“Don’t you think you’re exaggerating a little? Italy’s other regions are beautiful too…” I say, teasing him.
“Not like Basilicata.”

He must know the region very well, because every time I see him, he tells me about a different place: Maratea and Potenza, the Monticchio Lakes, Matera, the Pollino massif… I was so thrilled when the maestro invited me to spend a holiday in Basilicata with his family and Tazio!

the AUTHOR

ANGELO PETROSINO MARATEA

The Author:

Angelo Petrosino was born on February 3, 1949, in Castellaneta (TA), and around the age of ten he emigrated to France.

At first in Auvergne, then transferred to Paris, which he considers his adopted city.
Both the years spent in his country of origin and the period of residence in France were decisive in many ways.

He has reenacted them in a volume titled "My Name is Angelo - Story of a Journey".
He has also stayed in other major cities and, since 1964, has lived permanently in Chivasso, in the province of Turin.
Since 1969, he has taught in elementary school.

Since the early '80s, he has collaborated with magazines on pedagogy and children's literature. His interests quickly focused on children's literature: not just Italian but also foreign.

His knowledge of the main European languages allowed him to read firsthand what was published in this field.
In the early eighties he also established his first contacts with some schools in Cornwall.

Over a fifteen-year period, she gained insider knowledge of the English primary school system and documented her experiences in essays and articles.

Devon and Cornwall often appear as a backdrop in both Jessica's diaries and Valentina's books.
