Maria SS del Portosalvo | Curch | PORTO
The parish church of Our Most Holy Lady of Portosalvo, nestled among the houses of the fraction Porto a Maratea, is the result of the expansion of an eighteenth-century chapel.
The feast dedicated to the Madonna of Portosalvo in June is celebrated with a characteristic procession on the sea, in which the fishermen from the port follow their protector to the island of Santo Janni.

Works of art in the Church
It dates back to the period of expansion of the main altar, in polychrome marble, and the statue of the Madonna del Portosalvo.
Significant restoration and expansion work was carried out between 1922 and 1925, when the long and narrow nave with a barrel vaulted ceiling was constructed, featuring a beautiful twentieth-century painting of the Immaculate Conception.
The characteristic bell tower, decorated with classical columns, dates back to 1954 and was built with the contribution of all the residents of the fraction.
