Maratea. How to get there and how to move

How to get to Maratea and information on public transport with local bus and train timetables to move within the Maratea territory.

The only coastline extends for about 32 km, and the mountain hamlets are many minutes by car from the sea.

For this reason, it becomes important to have a car to get around Maratea, and it is essential, in its absence, to be able to rely on local transportation.

or that of the Trains to and from Maratea.

In the pages dedicated to public transportation, you will find useful information about the means of transport and bus schedules and schedules for local trains along the coast to move around within the territory of Maratea.

To move along the coast, one can use the bus or the train, which we jokingly call Metro-Maratea, as the railway line runs along the coast and the three stations can be used as access points to the beaches, particularly those of Marina and Acquafredda, but also the central station of Maratea (especially convenient for reaching the Port).

Some tips for getting around
(tips from Maratea.info)

visit maratea

Once you have reached the Marina station, you can easily access the Calaficarra or 'a Scala beaches, respectively known as Marina Grande and Marina Piccola.

From Acquafredda stations to the beaches of Calaficarra and Luppa or from the one in Maratea C. to the Fiumicello beach, it is reachable but less easily as the stretch of road and/or path to cover is longer. However, at Acquafredda, right at the exit of the station, there is a small beach that is really interesting, although it requires a few more steps.

At Maratea Central, you can potentially use the Urban Bus Service to go to Fiumicello Beach.

You can reach the Historic Center or the Port by public bus, but you can also walk there via a pedestrian path that connects the Historic Center to the Port, passing through the Maratea Station.

Note: Public services are only frequent in the summer, while in winter they are mainly tied to school hours. Always check!
