A visit to the Grotta delle Meraviglie (Cave of Wonders) in Marina di Maratea

How to visit the Grotto

MARATEA CAVE VISIT

The visit to the Grotte delle Meraviglie in Marina di Maratea lasts about 30 minutes.

The Grotta delle Meraviglie is the smallest tourist cave in Italy (approximately 90 meters) descending to a depth of 8 meters from the entrance level, from which a comfortable staircase leads inside the cavity.

The cave consists of a single chamber approximately 70 meters long, 20 meters wide, with an average height of 7 meters, from which several small and short tunnels branch off.

May the visit begin...

Passing through an artificial tunnel nearly 6 meters below State Road SS.18, the visit begins, with the coastline of Marina di Maratea behind.

One enters in this way, coming face to face with the beautiful figures on the left of the entrance, into the cave proper...

...and here are some useful tips to help you with the visit:

MARINE CAVES

For visiting the marine caves, some can be visited without difficulty, on foot or by boat - see also Maratea Beaches

Regarding the exploration of the Dragon Cave in Acquafredda or similar caves located in the territory of Maratea (in total, there are 131 caves, both accessible and inaccessible), it is mandatory to be accompanied by speleologists because the cavity presents difficulties that require the intervention of specialists.
