The beach of Cala Grande, also called Cala 'i don Nicola and now known as Macarro Beach after the name of the beautiful area behind it, is located in Marina di Maratea.
Dark sand, likely of volcanic origin, mixed with pebbles, in a natural cove with a backdrop of a beautiful pine forest, featuring caves and shallow areas along the shore for snorkeling enthusiasts.
It is one of the most famous beaches on the coast of Maratea, facing what is called the Secca della Giumenta, surrounded by Mediterranean green scrub.
