FILMS & FESTIVAL in Maratea
Maratea. a natural movie set
The Lucanian seaside town of Maratea has been the natural setting for several Italian comedy films and other genres since the early sixties. Among the films shot in Maratea, "Basilicata Coast to Coast," directed and starring a native Lucanian, Rocco Papaleo, stands out for its success.
Furthermore, the exceptional spectacularity of the natural settings and human-made structures has made Maratea a preferred location for both feature and short films, as well as for various commercial videos and television series.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE
Some scenes of the film QUANTUM OF SOLACE starring James Bond are incorrectly reported as having been filmed in Maratea; in reality, Maratea is not mentioned in the film’s end credits while it is listed on the James Bond website presentation page.
The error probably stems from the fact that some areas of Maratea were scouted by the film’s production team for chase scenes, but were not ultimately selected for the actual filming.
