How to visit the Grotto
The visit of the cave of Marina di Maratea " Meraviglie's Grotto" ( CAVES OF WONDERS) lasts about 30 minutes.
The Cave is the smallest tourist cave in Italy (about 90 meters) down up to 8 meters deep from the entry level, from which a staircase that leads into the cavity.
The cave is a single room of about 70 meters long by 20 meters wide with an average height of 7 meters, from which branches off a few small and short tunnels.
WE GO TO START THE VISIT
Going through an artificial tunnel of almost 6 meters below the highway SS 18 you begin the visit, behind the line of the coast of Marina di Maratea.

Sea grottos
If you want to visit the caves of the sea, this can be done without great difficulty, both on foot and by boat - see also Beaches.
As for the exploration of the Dragon in Acquafredda cave, or other caves on the territory of Maratea (they are 131!) you must necessarily be accompanied by speleologists because the cavity presents difficulties such as to require the intervention of specialists.

The GROTTO OF MERAVIGLIE of Marina di Maratea is open to the public during the summer months.
SUMMER
Open every day from 10.30am to 1.30 pm and from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm until 30 September
Entrance to Marina di Maratea Tourist Caves:
- 5 EURO / PERSON
- FREE:
- CHILDREN UP TO 6 YEARS
- Members of the Speleological Society of Italy (show the valid card).
In winter the cave is closed but you can visit it by taking an appointment (mobile +39 331 9150695)
The cave is well-lit and requires no special clothing for the visit, however, it is always good not to enter into the cavity if sweaty: the environment has an internal temperature between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 95%.
