Towers on the sea  in Maratea

The book explores minor fortifications, such as towers and castles, which, although not part of the major historical defensive systems, are essential for understanding the history of the landscape and architecture. Antonio Bixio, through a rigorous approach, has studied the coastal fortifications in Basilicata, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Maratea and the Ionian coast, highlighting the relationship between these buildings and the surrounding territory. The author analyzes how these places, closely linked to nature, have a value that goes beyond functional aspects, telling the history and identity of the landscape. The work promotes research as a tool to enhance and preserve these sites, proposing new perspectives for heritage conservation.
